USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
  • NOT FOR USE in fountain pens, rollerball pens, with feeder systems. Use with dip pens, brushes, washable instruments only.
  • Shake well before use. If ink has been left still for a prolonged period of time, stir ink to reincorporate pigments that have separated. Please note, separation is normal for calligraphy inks.
  • To clean, use isopropyl alcohol to dissolve dried ink. If dried ink persists, leave to soak in alcohol briefly and wipe clean.
  • Avoid getting ink on fabrics, ink will penetrate fibres and cannot be removed.

Port Pirouette - Calligraphy Collection - Opaque acrylic ink with gold shimmer

Curious about FWP new line of "professional calligraphy ink" discovered on website when checking out End of Year / New Year promotions.
High price point compared to other wellknown respected brands acrylic calligraphy ink, the bottle is fair size and what better time to try than when inks advertised buy 2 get 1 free, collect loyalty points, daily spin for more (sadly like website problematic, not working often although required 24hrs passed between spins), can stack with other promotions, offset the high minimum base plateau for free shipping with FWP, avoid the high shipping cost on smaller purchase which makes unrealistic - sadly can't just pickup since office address only community away.
Received fast, on New Year's Day, even though courier website said closed and no delivery on statutory National Holidays, including New Year's Day. So nice surprize on sad day. Just received review options, after advised FWP Customer Service at time of purchase looking for - to use on more pens and inks before run out! Filled inbox with all the temptations - would prefer to see link from within account, then no delay or overload to email. Pulled out swatch to refresh memory for review and inspire creativity, as a lot of time passed since first impression. Hopeful from marketing image and spin that lives up to. Personally, I skim over all Ferris Wheel Press fantasy writing, feels too much like doing just because, lacks meaning and clutters mind that dangerous "rabbit hole" to go down in society that already challenged.
Described as "waterproof acrylic ink", have plans for other than calligraphy or use on paper.
Packaged in lovely compact ornate heavy glass bottle, that if finish or being acrylic limited life span, plan to re-use for other inks and mediums. Although prefer transparent inks with sheen, shading ability, although described as "deep burgundy with gold shimmer" on paper swatched on looks like lovely opaque deep rose, with shimmer depth that in writing colour name appears deeper with lots of luminosity from shimmer, which makes me wonder now writing review and comparing to online swatch if production discrepancy.
Comes in small compact colourful box reflective of hue name, that easy to store without excess empty space like some FWP inks, weird size, or shape.
Looking forward to dipping into for project wanted to try for while.
Pleased FWP claims their inks at least are Made in Canada, hope that means all types and components sourced here. And that someday all their products and staff will be, making Canada strong, free and great again in all ways that important for wellbeing of nation, people, economy, future, sustainability, resilience, environmental impact, footprint, and returning Canada to lead producer of pens and inks once again.
