Once Upon a Design

The latest additions to the Ferris Wheel Press universe take us on a local journey through Toronto’s historic fashion district.
Drawing influence from traditional methods of surface design, Spadina Rose highlights an iconic portion of Spadina Avenue that intersects with Queen Street West. Here you can find a congregation of multi-decade embellishment shops. Preserved in the changing horizon of the city, young designers and DIYers flock here to find their next button, bead, or silk flower. Channeling the passion and skill of traditional couturiers, we translate the handcrafted silk flowers and seed pearls into a beautiful ink package to inspire your very own masterpiece.

Notable design details:

  • Custom illustrated lace patterning and over 30 hand-illustrated silk flowers; inspired by surface design in haute couture.
  • Mother of Pearl beading
  • Influenced by the embellishment and accessories shops in the Queen and Spadina pocket of the Fashion District in Toronto

Beautiful colour, much nicer than the swatch on the website would suggest. Almost the colour of blueberry juice on your skin, just a bit pinker. Shades nicely, dries quickly, very vintage look.

Kind of a dirty pink

I like the way this ink moves between pink and purple shading.
