That was precisely my experience with this Batman set. The fountain pen had come loose inside the box and appears to have rubbed against the metal cap of the ink bottle, leaving the barrel damaged.

As for the pen itself, I really like it. It has a very good balance in the hand, is pleasantly lightweight, and writes beautifully, with a smooth and consistent ink flow.
