Once Upon a Design

In the New York New York collection, we celebrate the sights and sounds of the City with three rich and vibrant colours: Grand Central Skies, Lights on Broadway, and Central Park Greens. Commemorating an unforgettable trip to the Big Apple in 2022 - we’ve captured our memories in bright and bold colours that represent FWP’s quintessential NYC experience.

Come with us as we revisit the glowing broadway lights of New York City; bask in the nature within a concrete jungle; and take a ride on one of the world’s most iconic transport systems. We hope to inspire your very own wanderings in the city that never sleeps.

Notable design details:

  • Marvel at the expansive celestial ceiling of Grand Central Terminal reinterpreted with a Ferris Wheel Press twist - Pumpkin and Patch jump across the stars in constellation form
  • A bevy of animals from across the globe represent New York’s multiculturalism and the New York subway’s storied history.
  • Graffiti decorates the walls of the station; can you identify the taggers? (Hint: Pumpkin and Patch might have a rebellious streak)
  • A bereted lion helps an elderly tortoise navigate the subway system - inspired by the Guardian Angels

Another beautiful colour.

Nice Shimmer

I like how the silver shimmer complements the teal instead of opposing it the way a golden shimmer would have done.

Grand Central Skies - 38ml Fountain Pen Ink

Note, the 1 star is for customer support, not the ink, which still looking forward to...

I originally ordered this ink Jan 3rd, as part of the promo buy 2 get 3rd free, lucked out that before price increase unaware of, but something went wrong with order. Shipping showed inactive wrong format of tracking, no way to follow-up, suspected not able to ship because of, reached out to customer support only way can, through email, and as FWP sadly become known for, long time before heard back, wrong information, finally they "got it", looked into, and advised that damaged in shipping and "fulfillment" looking into fulfilling.

Almost 3 weeks later, still not received update or original order, added the ink into another order and used code for free 38ml ink so not miss out.

Looking forward to dipping into and enjoying creating amazing art with.

Note to first time users, FWP lovely ink bottles have well earned reputation for being unpractical, not designed users for users, easily tip. I like to fill small bottle with and keep balance of bottle from compromised, or put in square glass holder to prevent sad accident and big mess!

The packaging of FWP 38ml bottles is lovely, most important good compact fit means easy to store the many ink hues and variations that FWP also famous for.

I remember being somewhat disappointed over not being able to find the Open Sea Atrium which was the colour I really wanted - but the Hampton Harbour Sage is quickly becoming one of my favourite greens. It's a more mature version of the Grand Central Skies - almost as if Grand Central Skies had been mixed with Moss Park Green. The tone is soft and calming and the silver shimmer looks fantastic in both writing or if used for drawing.
